In Italy, we work with farmer associations, research institutes and universities with the aim of developing a quality hazelnut value chain. The ways in which we offer support include sharing know-how and providing training in good agricultural practices to farmers to develop their orchards and enhance traceability.
To guide the development of FFV Italy and to contribute to the overall improvement of the hazelnut sector, we have recently established the Comitato Scientifico Nocciola (Hazelnut Scientific Committee) bringing together university professors and experts from various agricultural and scientific disciplines, based in different Italian regions. We believe advancing knowledge and innovation is essential to address sustainability challenges in hazelnut cultivation.
We also partner with farmer associations and investors through Progetto Nocciola Italia. Our project aims to involve more Italian regions where hazelnut orchards can be integrated with existing crops in a sustainable way. It is also an opportunity to prevent non-cultivated agriculture land from being abandoned.
